Dusseldorf Airport - All Information on Dusseldorf Airport (DUS)

Düsseldorf Airport is the third largest airport in Germany and the largest in North Rhine-Westphalia state. There are some 24 million passengers that travel in and out of Germany from here every year. This makes Düsseldorf the 23rd busiest airport in Europe. There are about 75 airlines that fly from the destination to 179 locations across the world. There is an average of 750 takeoffs as well landings every day to cope with the high number of passengers.

There are two runways at the airport. The first one is 2,700 m long while the other is 3,000 m long. There are plans to add some 600 m to the 3,000 m runway to cope with larger aircraft, however, the plans are yet to be finalized and approved.

In March 2013 the Airport received a new corporate design and dropped the term "International" from its official name.

There are 3 terminals at Düsseldorf Airport with 16 gates in terminal A alone. The terminal was inaugurated in 1977. This terminal is designated for Lufthansa and its regional, Star Alliance members and the airline partners of Lufthansa usage. Two lounges are available in Terminal A and they are named Lufthansa Senator Lounge and Lufthansa Business Lounge

Terminal B, which was the first to be opened in 1973, consists of 11 gates. Terminal B deals with domestic flights and EU-flights by Skyteam, Air Berlin and international carriers which include KLM, British Airways, Finnair, Air France, Czech Terminal and Iberia. The Air France and British Airways’ observation deck and lounges, charter carriers, Condor Flugdienst and TUIfly desks are located at this terminal, too.

Terminal C is the most recent and it was inaugurated in 1986. There are 8 gates at this terminal. Terminal C is strictly for airlines not belonging to the Star Alliance. There is direct access from the terminal to the Maritim Hotel of the City. The lounges for Airberlin and Emirates Airlines are located in this terminal. Besides these major terminals there is also an executive terminal for corporate and private clients.

The airport is proud to make provisions for disabled passengers. Any passenger with a disability should notify the airline he or she is travelling well in advance. Disabled passengers are also expected to register with Passenger Care Service on site. Parking in the parking lot is free for drivers being able to show a registered disability in their ID card.

There are many excellent conference and business facilities at the airport, too. Passengers using the VIP services can take advantage of the business lounges and the VIP lounge. The Steigenberger Conference Point has conference rooms for up to 250 people. Conference rooms for up to 230 people are also available in at the Arabella Sheraton Hotel.
